What Is a Residential Voice Service?

A Residential Voice service is a cost-effective way to make phone calls over the internet, both within the UK and internationally. With VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), there's no need for a traditional landline anymore. Residential VoIP services from OLYS Telecom include a wide range of features—many of them completely free:

Can I Keep My Existing Phone Number?

Yes, you can keep your existing home phone number. There is a small porting fee of £30 + VAT, although most of our packages include free porting.

How Long Does Number Transfer Take?

Number transfers typically take 5 to 10 days, and there is no disruption to your service during the process.

Do I Need to Cancel My Existing Landline Service?

No, please do not cancel your current landline service. Keep it active until your number is fully transferred. Once your number is ported over to OLYS Telecom, your original landline service will automatically be deactivated.

Do I Need an Analogue Telephone Adapter (ATA)?

As analogue handsets are gradually being phased out, we recommend upgrading to a modern VoIP phone with enhanced features and better performance.


You have two options:

  • Purchase a VoIP phone separately

  • Choose a package that includes a VoIP phone

These phones offer a more reliable and feature-rich experience compared to traditional analogue models.

Can I Block Unwanted Calls?

Yes, you can easily block calls via our user-friendly online portal.

Can I Call Emergency Services (999 / 111) Using VoIP?

Yes, our VoIP service fully supports calls to emergency services (999 and 111).


To enable this feature, there is a small fee of £2/month, which can be added to your plan as an optional add-on. This ensures your location is registered correctly for emergency response and that your calls are routed with priority.

I Already Have My Own VoIP Handset. Can I Get it Integrated?

Yes, in many cases we can integrate your existing VoIP handset. However, this depends on the model and its compatibility with our system.

To confirm if your handset is supported, please email our support team at support@olys.co.uk with the make and model of your device. We’ll be happy to assist you.

Do I Have to Commit to a Contract?

No, OLYS Telecom does not bind you to any fixed-term contracts for our VoIP services—all service plans are offered on a flexible monthly basis with no long-term commitment required.

However, if you choose to purchase a VoIP handset on a monthly payment plan, there may be a separate contract related to the hardware cost only. This ensures that the cost of the device is covered over the agreed period. It does not affect your service plan, which remains on a rolling monthly basis.

Is There a Web Portal to Check Missed Calls?

Yes! Our fully featured online portal allows you to view missed calls, call history, and manage many other features.
