A Virtual Number (also known as a DID – Direct Inward Dialing number) is a telephone number that isn’t tied to a physical phone line or location. Instead, it routes incoming calls over the internet (VoIP) or to another destination such as a mobile, landline, or call center.

These numbers allow individuals and businesses to:

  • Appear local in different countries or cities without having a physical presence there

  • Receive and make calls from anywhere in the world

  • Use advanced features like call forwarding, voicemail, IVR, and analytics

Can I Purchase Any Number?

Yes, as long as you're a verified customer and provide valid identification during the sign-up process with OLYS, you can purchase any available number type (local, national, International, mobile, or toll-free).

What are the Registration Requirements?

For Local Numbers (e.g., Austrian DIDs):

Business Customers:

Address Verification (for both):
Address that matches the area code of the DID (including street, building number, postal code, city, and country)

Can I Purchase International Numbers While Based in the UK?

Yes, you can. However, some countries require local identification and address proof to register a number. Others allow number activation without such documents.

How do I Know if a Number Requires Registration?

All registration requirements for each number and country are clearly listed on our website before checkout. If you're unsure, contact our support team for guidance.

Can I Keep My Existing Phone Number?

Yes, you can keep your existing home phone number. There is a small porting fee of £30 + VAT, although most of our packages include free porting.

How Long Does Number Transfer Take?

Number transfers typically take 5 to 10 days, and there is no disruption to your service during the process.

Do I Need to Cancel My Existing Landline Service?

No, please do not cancel your current landline service. Keep it active until your number is fully transferred. Once your number is ported over to OLYS Telecom, your original landline service will automatically be deactivated.

Can I Call Emergency Services (999 / 111) Using VoIP?

Yes, our VoIP service fully supports calls to emergency services (999 and 111).


To enable this feature, there is a small fee of £2/month, which can be added to your plan as an optional add-on. This ensures your location is registered correctly for emergency response and that your calls are routed with priority.

Do the Numbers Support Fax?

Most of our virtual numbers support fax services, but not all. Compatibility depends on the number type and the country of origin.

Do I Have to Commit to a Contract?

No, OLYS Telecom does not bind you to any fixed-term contracts for our VoIP services—all service plans are offered on a flexible monthly basis with no long-term commitment required.

However, if you choose to purchase a VoIP handset on a monthly payment plan, there may be a separate contract related to the hardware cost only. This ensures that the cost of the device is covered over the agreed period. It does not affect your service plan, which remains on a rolling monthly basis.
